Next Level Visions Wins Best Documentary at the Hip-Hop Film Festival in New York

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news! Our documentary I Was the Weirdo has been awarded Best Documentary at the Hip-Hop Film Festival in New York City!

The Hip-Hop Film Festival, hosted by Harlem Film House, is one of the most influential platforms for filmmakers who tell stories rooted in hip-hop culture, creativity, and community. To be recognized here, in the birthplace of hip-hop, is not only an incredible honor but also deeply humbling.

Our film I Was the Weirdo dives into Washington D.C.’s underground hip-hop and arts scene, following the journey of Priest Da Nomad and the artists who have kept the culture alive against all odds. Winning this award validates the countless hours of storytelling, editing, and collaboration poured into this project.

Best Documentary Award

But more than a trophy, this recognition shines a light on the voices and stories that deserve to be heard. Independent filmmaking is never a solo journey, this award belongs to the entire team, the artists, and the community who trusted us to bring their truth to the screen.

We want to thank Harlem Film House, the Hip-Hop Film Festival, and everyone who has supported us along the way. From late-night edits to festival screenings, your encouragement has made this moment possible.

This is just the beginning. With more screenings ahead, we’re excited to continue sharing I Was the Weirdo with audiences everywhere.

Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being part of this journey.
